Pine Basket Way is an independent reading collection about weaving with natural materials. It focuses on a narrow subject — willow and rattan basketry, and the simple projects that introduce it — rather than crafts in general.
The site grew out of notes kept while learning the craft in Germany: which rods soaked well, which strokes were easy to start with, and where regional workshops and museums kept the older techniques in use. Those notes were tidied into the three articles you can read here.
What this site is
- A small set of plainly written guides to basketry materials and first projects.
- Informational content, kept close to practical experience and publicly available references.
- Illustrated with photographs from Wikimedia Commons, used under their respective licenses.
What it is not
It is not a shop and it does not sell baskets, materials or courses. Where in-person learning is mentioned, readers are pointed toward local museums and adult-education centres to find current dates directly.
Accuracy
The articles describe widely documented techniques. Where exact figures would be uncertain, the text stays descriptive rather than quoting numbers. If you spot something that should be corrected, the contact form on the home page is the best way to let us know.
